Carol Adams received an M.S. degree in
industrial engineering from Texas A&M University, where she
specialized in designing successful interactions between humans and
technology. After graduation she joined MITRE Corporation and worked as
a human factors consultant to the United States Air Force Electronic
Systems Division (USAF ESD). After leaving MITRE she joined IBM and
served in a variety of human factors and usability-related positions
there, including work on more than 100 products and two years on
advanced projects at IBM Research. Ms. Adams left IBM in 1992 to join
HaL Computer Systems, a start-up. In 1995 she founded ergosoft
laboratories, inc. to provide human factors and usability
consulting services to technology companies. She is a Certified
Professional Ergonomist and a member of the Human Factors and
Ergonomics Society (HFES), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM),
and Usability Professionals' Association (UPA).
